Back to School BBQ

Enjoy an evening with other LaPerche families as welcome the start of the school year as a school community. Held on school grounds, parent volunteers grill hot dogs and hamburgers while the students play organized games.

Open House

An evening event, open house is an opportunity for parents to tour the school, meet teachers and spend time in their child’s classroom. Parents are also welcome to sign up for a PTA membership and participate in fundraising activities.

Celebrate Smithfield

The festival showcases the many contributions of the residents and businesses in the town of Smithfield and to raise funds in support of the Smithfield Education Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative educational programs to support, enhance and advance the experience for the 2,700 students in Smithfield’s public schools. The Festival includes student performances, special appearances, family activities and local merchants.

Learning Enrichment After School Program (LEAP)

LEAP is proud to provide students a wide selection of quality after school enrichment classes in the safe environment of R.C. LaPerche School. Offered twice per year, LEAP programs run for several weeks and focus on various social and educational activities such as Sports, Drama, Culture and Music.

Costume Bingo

An evening event held during the month of October, students are invited to dress in Halloween costumes and play Bingo. Students are provided a number of chances to win prizes through winning a round of bingo or raffles.

Thanksgiving Feast

Building a sense of community, LaPerche students gather during school lunches to celebrate a Thanksgiving dinner complete with turkey and all the traditional fixings. Thanks to the generous donation of time from parent volunteers, food donations are collected in preparation for the school-wide. Parent volunteers are also help to serve students during the annual celebration.

Holiday Shop

Set in the school cafeteria, Holiday Shop provides students an opportunity to independently shop for affordable holiday gifts for loved ones while learning decision-making and money management skills. Parent volunteers assist the students with shopping for and wrapping gifts.

Polar Express

Students in first and second grade enjoy a December day experiencing the journey of the Polar Express through a pajama dress up day, parading through the school and settling down to watch the Polar Express movie with refreshments. As conductor, the school principal leads led the journey to the North Pole.

Dixieland Pops Band

A cultural assembly, a musical group performs for the students at LaPerche School.

Valentine’s Dance

A social event, the Valentine’s Dance is open to all female students and their fathers or male chaperones. A fun night of dancing, raffle prizes and refreshments is but some of the highlights of this event that creates memories of a lifetime for students.

Book Fair

In the spring, Scholastic Books presents a book fair for students and families. Parent volunteers assist students with purchases as they develop money management skills.

Boys Spring Dance

A social event, male students are provided an opportunity to spend the evening with their mothers or female chaperone.  The dinner dance is complete with a DJ and raffle prizes – A highlight for many students!

Variety Show

An evening show displaying a variety of student talent for families to enjoy. The variety show is not mandatory for students to participate in, however they are encouraged to be a part of this wonderful evening to demonstrate some of their skills and talents. Performances include Instrumental, voice, acting, dancing and acrobats.

Boys Night Out

An evening event for male students and their fathers or male chaperones.  All who attend enjoy a great night planned, whether it be bowling or attending a PawSox game.

Spring Bingo

Similar to Costume Bingo, this social event is fun for all students and families. There are many chances to win at this event as raffle prizes are drawn and winners for each round of Bingo receive small prizes.

Spring Brunch

Held during the spring, the brunch is social event for female students and their mothers or female chaperones, all enjoy a morning of food, music, and raffle prizes.

Walk A Thon

One of the largest fundraisers during the school year, the Walk A Thon solicits participation from the entire school.  The designation of funds raised during this event is decided by the PTA body prior to the event and appropriated accordingly.  Taking place on school grounds, all participants are asked to obtain individual sponsors for their walk.

L.I.S.T. Fair and Plant Sale

The L.I.S.T fair is a highlight of the school year as students display science projects for all families and friends to enjoy.  Prior to this event, select classrooms are asked to plant vegetable seeds and spend several weeks learning about the germination and growth process.  During the evening of the science fair, those seedlings are presented at a Plant Sale to raise funds for the PTA.
